Workshops for students<\/h2>\n

May to December 2024<\/h2>\n

During the span of its third year, EUCOTTON organized 10 workshops for students in cooperation with 10 fashion & textile schools in Greece, Spain, France, Germany and Italy. With the support of external cotton and fashion experts, the students were familiarized with the European cotton production & heritage, with main focus on its sustainability and quality aspects. In Italy, the workshops resulted in a capsule collection by the students of Fashion Design Area of NABA-Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in the framework of an EUCOTTON X NABA collaboration for the promotion of sustainability in fashion. The outfits were presented in a ceremony in Milan on December 5th, and also travelled to Paris for exhibition at the EUCOTTON French event in the next weeks of December.<\/p>\n

EUCOTTON turns heads in Paris! On December 10th, more than 100 high profile professionals gathered at Espace Clery in order to participate to EUCOTTON\u2019s event in the European capital of fashion. The event included a presentation by Antonis Siarkos, the president of ECA and a round-table discussion with ECA members Antonios Siarkos (Chairman of ECA and President of SIARKOS SA), Dimitris Polychronos (CEO of Nafpaktos Yarns SA), Vassilis Markou (Ginner, member of the Hellenic Inter-professional Cotton Association), Josep Artigas (Cotton agent and President of Centro Algodonero Nacional) and also experts Ilian Moundib, author and climate strategy engineer, Elizabeth Perret S\u00e9n\u00e9caille CSR director at IKKS, Bruno Nahan, President of the F\u00e9d\u00e9ration de la Maille et de la Lingerie et du Baln\u00e9aire and textile manufacturer as CEO of Bugis and Fran\u00e7ois Souchet, consultant in sustainability strategies. Participation at Genova Jeans Week<\/h2>\n

Fam trip in Andalusia<\/h2>\n

September 2024<\/h2>\n

At the end of September, a team of 20 cotton, fashion and textile professionals from Germany, Italy, France, Greece and Spain have been able to discover on the ground the sustainability and quality that distinguish European cotton through a visit to Andalusia. Specifically, the representatives of the European textile and fashion industry visited the fields and facilities of two benchmarks in the Andalusian cotton sector: Algosur (Algodonera del Sur), in the province of Seville, and the Las Lomas Agricultural Complex (Cadiz), which has the oldest active ginning mill in Spain. These two farms carry out many of the best practices that make European cotton special, such as 100% mechanised harvesting, the use of non-GMO seeds, highly professionalised employees and the implementation of water management and Integrated Pest Management plans. <\/p>\n

On the first day of Munich Fabric Start, EUCOTTON hosted a panel discussion on the sustainability and traceability of European cotton in the framework of the new EU legislation on Green Deal , with a roast of panelists including representatives of ECA mr Antonis Siarkos, Dimitris Polyhronos and Vasileios Markou, alongside esteemed professionals such as mr Jens Wirth, Managing Director of Bremen Cotton Exchange, ms Michela Puddu, manager at Gherzi Textil Organisation, ms Anne Oudard, cotton specialist of Cotton Diaries and ms Laura Pianazza, fashion specialist. A successful participation of EUCOTTON at Munich Fabric Start (September edition) took place on 3-4 September 2024. Europ\u00e4ische Baumwolle stand am 10.07.2024 in Mailand im Mittelpunkt, als sich mehr als 80 Fachleute von renommierten Mode- und Textilmarken zur Pr\u00e4sentation der EUCOTTON-Initiative dort versammelten. Die Veranstaltung umfasste Pr\u00e4sentationen der Vertreter des ECA-Vorstands Antonios Siarkos und Dimitris Polychronos \u00fcber die Qualit\u00e4ts- und Nachhaltigkeitseigenschaften der europ\u00e4ischen Baumwolle sowie die R\u00fcckverfolgbarkeit der Baumwolle vom Erzeuger bis hin zum fertigen Kleidungsst\u00fcck. Die griechische Mode- und Textilindustrie traf sich in Thessaloniki zur ersten Veranstaltung, die den europ\u00e4ischen Baumwollproduktionssektor mit der Modewelt verbinden soll. Mehr als 80 Personen von 65 Unternehmen und Organisationen nahmen an der Veranstaltung teil, um mehr dar\u00fcber zu erfahren, wie man mit europ\u00e4ischer Baumwolle eine nachhaltige Zukunft gestalten kann! Die nachhaltigen und hochwertigen Eigenschaften der europ\u00e4ischen Baumwolle wurden k\u00fcrzlich auf der Phygital Sustainability Expo in Rom vorgestellt, Italiens gr\u00f6\u00dfter Nachhaltigkeitsveranstaltung, die jedes Jahr mehr als 10.000 Besucher anzieht und ein Publikum von mehr als 70 Millionen Menschen erreicht. Die zweit\u00e4gige Veranstaltung, die am 4. und 5. Juni von der Sustainable Fashion Innovation Society im beeindruckenden Museum Imperial Fora organisiert wurde, wird von der Delegation der Europ\u00e4ischen Union in Rom, dem Europ\u00e4ischen Parlament, der italienischen Regierung, der UNESCO, der FAO und vielen weiteren nationalen und internationalen Organisationen unterst\u00fctzt.<\/p>\n

EUCOTTON wurde durch den Pr\u00e4sidenten der European Cotton Alliance Antonios Siarkos vertreten, der die Initiative im Rahmen einer ersten internationalen Diskussionsrunde \u00fcber Baumwolle vorstellte: \u201eFrom Crop to Shop“ mit Referenten aus Europa, Afrika und den USA. Die Podiumsdiskussion, die vom Sender RAI \u00fcbertragen wurde, behandelte Themen wie die Nachhaltigkeitseigenschaften von Baumwolle, die weltweite Handelsumgebung und die M\u00f6glichkeiten f\u00fcr lokale Lieferketten.
W\u00e4hrend der zweit\u00e4gigen Phygital Sustainability Expo gab es im Museum Imperial Fora einen EUCOTTON-Stand, an dem u. a. von der griechischen Mythologie inspirierte Kleidung vorgestellt wurde, die von Studierenden und Lehrkr\u00e4ften der International Hellenic University und der Abteilung f\u00fcr kreatives Design und Mode aus europ\u00e4ischer Baumwolle hergestellt wurde.<\/p>\n

EUCOTTON hat sich mit der International Hellenic University im griechischen Thessaloniki und speziell der Abteilung f\u00fcr kreatives Design und Mode zusammengetan, um einen besonderen Workshop f\u00fcr Studierende zum Thema Nachhaltigkeit und Qualit\u00e4t der europ\u00e4ischen Baumwollproduktion durchzuf\u00fchren. Mehr als 75 Studierende nahmen an dem Workshop teil, der Pr\u00e4sentationen und Diskussionen mit dem Pr\u00e4sidenten der ECA Antonios Siarkos, dem Vertreter von Munich Fabric Start Panos Sofianos und dem Baumwollproduzenten Kyriakos Kitoudis umfasste. Die Studierenden hatten auch die Gelegenheit, mehr \u00fcber die Geschichte und Tradition des Baumwollanbaus in Griechenland zu erfahren und mit Landwirten \u00fcber die Realit\u00e4t ihres Alltags zu diskutieren.<\/p>\n

Am 24. November 2022 kamen morgens \u00fcber 50 Vertreter der europ\u00e4ischen Baumwollbranche und der Textilsektoren bei der EUCOTTON-Arbeitsgruppe zusammen, die im Museum f\u00fcr byzantinische Kultur in Thessaloniki stattfand. Mediterranean Cotton Roads<\/h2>\n
